    Hey Pete,
he's in Wonder tucky and still the prop.tax around chi town and burbs will kill ya..you have to make a decent buck..no one around here is paying 600 a yr. for prop. tax.
I know retirees who live around here that said they need about 30 grand a yr. to live and that's with no debt at all...more services you have more taxes..oh well need to retire and move south..take care

If it was me...I would find a truck that has been taking care of for about 20,000 or less..This will take some time searching..Once the truck is located i would have him call Landstar.

Living in Chi Town is the best freight lane to be in..I make all my money loading in Chi Town back to NY..The hard part is finding the good paying load back WEST...This has always been an issue in trucking...West to East lanes pay huge.East to West is tough to find.

90% of the time i run from NY to Chi Town,IA,MO,NE,MINN and Kansas then back..This is my lane i am profitable.

I will be running tomorrow to Peru Ill for tuesday delivery.I then pick up 20 miles away back to Westfield Mass and then deadhead home.I will be in the truck MON and TUESDAY NIGHT..Home wednesday and leave friday morning to deliver Westfield Mass. Then home for weekend...Easy money...I will bring to dinner table after L/S CUT and fuel-tolls about 3,000...Last week i was on road for 4 nights and cleared 3,300 to the house....I do not kill myself or my equipment and i have a wonderful life as an O/O.The best thing i ever did in my life was walk away from the SLAVE MASTER COMPANY OWNERS..I too live in one of the highest taxed states in the WORLD and I am still doing very well...Home,car,truck,harley,savings account and all the nice things in life....

Good luck and hope all works out..If he needs anything have him give me a shout...

I bought a used pumpkin about 5 months ago for 18,500. I've spent @ 4,000.00 on repairs so far. Purchased with about 780,000 miles. Run, on avg 1200 mi a week for 4 days. Will net @ 800.00 a week home every night. I lease to Schneider but can choose any I want. Decent money no touch freight. I work containers.

I would consider this for anyone. Great job for a family man. Just don't go crazy with spending and you will do alright. Break down in 2nd post is dead on.
