I post a lot, but I have a lot of questions but anyways. So, I applied to ABF, however, they have no openings in sacramento, ca. No LTL company that I know of that will train you to get your CDL are right now. It is rather depressing. I'm trying my best to get on with ABF and am going to do my best to beg Con-Way if I can. If not, swift here I come....Any advice I can be given or any other companies someone might recommend?
Soo....

Roehl has a small terminal in Fontana, Ca. They run a lot of flatbed in Ca. & Az.
-
Problem is, it isnt in Sacramento and I need a company that will help with trucking school.
-
Roehl has a trucking school.

Roehl would be an excellent choice for a starter company, they run schools at most of their terminals and IIRC they will put you up in a motel while there.
before digging to the bottom of the bottom feeders, give them a call/ application. they are at or near the top of the training companies.
good luck!Sle7en Thanks this. -
I don't see any link for their training though yet? Where do they train you from? And where can I find out about their terminals?
-
It doesn't look to me as if Roehl is hiring in Sacramento, right now. If you can't get on with Roehl, you could also try Knight. They just opened port services in Oakland and they have a school. Prime is hiring for reefer in Rancho Cordova and they also have a school. Con-Way is really hard to get on with. Keep trying though. I think more opportunities open up as Spring/Summer get closer.
Do you qualify for WIA? If you're under employed, you can apply for WIA funding for a local training program which would give you your CDL and more job opportunities. -
I'm looking into it. Would it be recommended to do a trucking school that doesn't have you sign on then trying to apply to an LTL company like ABF? I think that might be a good option for me.

It might work. It would put you ahead of the pack that doesn't have their CDL yet. If you have a good school in your area, their finance office can also help you apply for the WIA funding if you qualify.
