LOL you can tell we are totally opposite. I loved the Cat and you hate them, I hate Detroits and you love them.

I would stay away from anything built between '07 to '10, nothing but problems. Get something older or newer, yes the newer ones have their share of problems, but not like the first generation.

No problem, lol. Actually, spending that much to buy all three goes back to the question of whether you're better off buying new or at least much newer than used, well used. Stretch out payments, get more depreciation at tax time, in theory less down time and maintenance cost, better fuel mileage....worth thinking about.

Had a Classic with a 60 series, got decent mpgs and was cheaper to repair than cat. Had a 387 with a c15, wa a PIG on fuel, and then.... Burnt to the ground...... Harness that passes down the left side of th engine chafes above the starter, told by engineer my insurance company hired to investigate, it's common with the 387/ cat combo..... Look back in my history for pics,, it wasn't a great day.......
but.. I have a 2013 Volvo, did it against my better judgement, AND ITS AWESOME!!!!!!

    just can't say it enough....

if new is an option then hands down a Columbia glider with a 12.7/13/3.42 or 3.55 will always win, in most everyone's book except California!

I second that. they have very strict guidlines to try and say you violated something and not give you your claim. They only allows repairs in their approved shops. They only pay out if the truck breaks. A responsible owner does preventative maintenance before their engine blows and thus they wont pay a dime.

In general people who hate detroits think they cant pull on hills. Detroits like running 200-400 rpm higher then cats (c15 vs d14.4 S60) I find, as long as i downshift enough it does fine. As for MPG, detroit is better. As for reliability, cat may win a little there, but not by much. I just bought a truck with a s60 in it, but am currently still in a company truck running a cat. It looses like a gallon of oil a week and it sprays it all over the engine. (engine is black with a 1/8" coat of caked oil) It still runs. The company wont do an inframe yet lol, but it needs one. So reliability, Its still running whiel falling apart and hasnt left me stranded yet. If it were my engion i'd get it fixed. I used to drive a detroit and found it to be smoother, quieter and higher mpg.

What do you cat lovers love so much about cat?
