Sorry about this - need impressions on 3 different trucks

    Pre-EGR engines would be a 2003 or older.

    Wow...that's getting down there. Suppose one could get something that's had an overhaul. Thanks.

    It is getting harder and harder for sure. If you look that old you need to have enough money set aside to overhaul a lot right off the bat as there will be things that need to be replaced. There will be gems out there but a lot are selling the trucks because they know there is a ticking time bomb somewhere and they are passing it off before they get stuck with it. Nothing wrong with that as long as you prepare for it and buy it at the right price.


    I should also say that it is the year the engine was manufactured that counts for the emissions requirements not the model year of the truck. I order a 2014 truck at the end of 2012. It is getting too far off in my opinion. The engines are typically about a year behind the truck.
