this makes no sense, i want you to really think about what im saying. I took a test to drive the truck i was going to be working in right?.....................i took the test in the truck that i was going to be using the license for right?...........................ok we have that established...............so i took the test and passed the test right?..............yes i did. Now that said WHY THE "BEEP" am i not licensed to drive the truck i took the test in? does that make any logical sense? lol not trying to be rude but just read that for a second and a light should go on saying "why should i rent a truck (paying $450 at my nearest location and considering my age) to take the test that i already passed? that i already waited the 3 months to get tested. yes the wait was 3 months to get tested.

Well, yes you should. But if you're under the gun and need to get rolling, my opinion is that renting a truck that 'they' consider qualifying would be money well spent. Bureaucracy is seldom if ever streamlined or efficient.

It does make logical sense. But the government is not logical. Find the path of least resistance and take it. Then follow up with your local elected officials to get the problems fixed. Good luck.

    Z Restriction
    Except tractor-trailer
    Interpretation:
Vehicle combination must include a fifth-wheel articulation, tractor (pulling unit) must have a GVWR of
26,001 or more pounds and pulling a trailer which has a GVWR of 10,001 pounds or more, or the applicants
CDL will reflect a "Z" restriction.
The unit must have an actual fifth-wheel articulation. If the unit has a pintle hook or ball and chain
hook up, and used the unit for testing, the driver will have a "Z" restriction placed on the CDL.
The applicant would still be required to take all the proper knowledge testing for the vehicle they are driving.
The road test (pre trip inspection, basic control skills and road test) would still be the same. Many vehicles
may also require the "K" restriction because the vehicle may not have air brakes. " <<<<<<< straight from the book

For a driver to lift the "Z" restriction, they would need to take any knowledge test as needed and take the
complete road test ( pre-trip, basic control skills and road test). The unit must have a fifth-wheel articulation
and meet the GVWR requirements to lift the "Z" restriction.
