Hi all,
Older guy looking into trucking as a career move. No CDL, no experience. I don't mind doing OTR, so Prime is on my short list based on what I have read here (Thanks to all the great info from you experienced folks on companies, I had no idea when I was almost going to apply with C R England and y'all saved me from that.
I have read great things about Southeastern Freight and they have a terminal 20 miles from me. I also like the idea of local, while not minding some time away from home if needed. Being a LTL company, there is a lot of dock work involved, as well. I think I can handle that even if I am not a spring chicken.
Any advice or insights into how I might approach them? I'd like to be as prepared as possible so I can have my ducks in a row. Not sure if they want an older guy due to the physical requirements. Any info on them would be appreciated.
Thanks,
SCDude

Some terminals have "Entry level driver trainee program."
Don't know which ones, make some calls and check website.scdude Thanks this. -
Thanks, I have seen the openings, right now, looks like all (or most) terminals have that opening. I was trying to get some more info to make sure I present myself to them as best I can. I've heard they are not easy to get on with, but those that are are happy. Lots of yard work involved. They also have Freight Handler jobs I may apply for to get my foot in the door. Thanks for responding.

They used to run ads in Nashville when I lived in that area. Built a new terminal near where I picked up loads of dairy products for OTR reefer. The drivers were required to be clean cut and squared away.
