HI Again
I found out this week i might be eligible for some WIA funds for school. I was wondering if anyone attended Southern Missour Truck Driving School in Malden MO?? Its the only PTDI certified program in the state. The thing that interest me the most is that they guarantee no more than 2 students per instructor when out on the road.
On the other hand, spending 4 weeks in Malden Missouri is goona really suuck!!

I live about 20 miles from Malden and see their trucks around here all the time. According to several drivers that I've talked to that have attended the school they have an excellent program and trainers, plenty of one on one time with the trainer and no third party testing.
Malden may be a sleepy little farm community but it has everything you could possibly need for your short time there and not cost you a small fortune either.
Good luck in whatever you decide but I personally feel like you won't go wrong with SMTDS. -
I know the comments here about Southern Missouri Truck Driving School are old but I want to add my two cents worth.
I just completed the 4 week course at SMTDS and in my opinion they are the best trucking school in the country! My husband and I talked to several schools before choosing SMTDS. They were the only school who would, and did, answer all our questions! When you're changing careers, you want answers, not I don't know, no answer at all, or not have your call returned at all! I would highly recommend the school to ladies especially. They are patient with you. They DO allow only 2 students per truck. They DO give you one on one time with the instructors. They DO work with you any way they can to help you get your CDL! Be prepared to work hard. Yes, Malden, MO may be a sleepy little village but you are there to learn how to drive a truck, not party, right? You will be in good hands! If you contact them, tell them Mary C sent you! Type "Southern Missouri Truck Driving School" into google or your preferred search engine and find their very complete and informative website and phone number.
Talk to Regina or Kevin!

I didn't attend SMTDS. Instead I rented a truck and trailer and took the test for the CDL license. But I went there one afternoon and spoke with them. I agree with Righteous Rose. They are very courteous and professional. Great people who will spend time with you and answer questions about their program and the trucking industry in general. Gave me a tour of the facilities and took me to the practice driving course to watch students doing driving manuvers. The course is on an old wwII airbase with plenty of room to drive around. I was very impressed with them.

Projump I agree with you 1000%! I'm so glad I went there rather than the other schools we looked at! Got ignored by other schools. SMTDS answered all questions!

Hi, my military service is coming to an end later this year and I am SERIOUSLY considering trucking as a new career. I will be moving back to to MO (STL) with my wife and kid.
After some research, SMTDS seems like a good alternative to company training schools (ie CR England). Does anyone know if there are any type of living/lodging accomodations for out of towner's? Does anyone know if the GI bill can be used there. Thanks in advance for anyone's help. -
Hey JettaDudeMKV,
Yes, Southern Missouri Truck Driving School has accommodations for you at the school. Call or email them! Ask them about the GI bill. They are very honest and up front with you. They are not arm twisters, trust me! Tell them Mary C. says hello! -
Yes ma'am, I will. Thanks so much for the reply.

You are most welcome Jetta!
