This is an old question but other's may need the answer. Southpoint was great when they were Southpoint. GreatWide Logistics took them over a few years ago and they've went downhill quick. It was family owned and operated and they were very fair to their drivers. Things are not that way any longer. Good luck if you do go with them.:biggrin_2556:

I hate to run down a company but Greatwide does it to themselves. They don't care about their drivers run on a force dispatch system. Lie to you every time they speak to you (the corperate types). The Terminal Managers handle problems with very heavy handed manner. Like this say you have a problem dispatch lied to you and told you if you take this crappy 35 mile run they will get you in the morning.. When you wake up it is 8 am and all the loads are gone. You call your Tm and he says he will get to the bottom of it. Later that morning you still havent heard anything so you call back and he say blames you for not answering your phone (when your phone never rang) and puts you out of service until you come see him for "training". At this point we have had drivers threaten to have thier contract term'd for not complying.

Everything at Greatwide is the drivers fault when you go over the TM's head to your Regional he says my hands are tied or just humor the tm. Or the ever popular I will handle this. Which means he is going to ask the TM why he screwed you over without protecting the driver so now the driver has the tm out for his head.. So no one ever says anything.

And yes on the phone never ringing I have phone records as do other drivers. When you confront them with these they just shrug like oh well.. F you driver alas the economy is horrid so they have us ...

I know exactly what you're saying is true. I'm not a driver but have seen and heard just what you discribed with my own eyes and ears. I spoke out on behalf of the drivers and convienently they found reason to terminate me after 5 years of employment. I contacted Ray Greer and he passed it to the tm which as you said, brushed it under the rug. I'm still in contact with dear friends from my old terminal and things haven't changed. Very sad in this economy that people have to hide their beliefs to stay employed.

They sent us years ago to help out at McClearny Fl and Winter Haven Fl.. I didn't think most Greatwide terminals were ran like the one I am out of is.. But I guess it is company wide. The company was So much better when K L Breeden owned it the money may have looked bad but atleast you could clear 2400 a week with ease now it is a strech to clear 1000... as an owner op... Which sucks.

Before GreatWide, Southpoint was strictly company drivers and they said that wouldn't change (I bet it does) and Southpoint had only one LARGE customer. If they haven't by now, they are going to lose that account and will be forced to take on others or close the terminal. Lots of drivers will be left in the cold, some have been with Southpoint for 20+ years. Many long term drivers have already left, I'm sure they could see the writing on the wall. It's a sad situation.
