Hey McUzi, been awhile, I just reconfirmed it this morning when I got back to the terminal, overtime is after 40 hours here.

True, boomers are retiring and genXs are taking over the helm day by day, but I also think there is another factor, I am not going to make the typical blanket statement that millennials or the latest generation zoomers is what I think they are called just don't want to work, I know that's not entirely true, however I do believe that these two latest generations don't have as much interest in trucking as a career compared to the generations before them, which I feel is causing part of the shortage, especially since the way tech is now, working from home jobs are becoming a regular thing now, I think it's even affecting non trucking jobs to a certain extent.skinnytrucker Thanks this.

No it's not that, because there are trucking jobs here in Nevada that are still doing the overtime after 50 thing, and some are also doing overtime after 8hrs.

That's fantastic!
It certainly has been a while, life just has its ups and downs... Hope all is well.USMC 3531 Thanks this. -
I’ve seen the laziness of the younger generations. At 35 I’m somewhat lumped into the groups but I can tell you it’s never been an issue with me. One thing I’m looking to get a feel for is how the Estes/OD/Saia/FedEx terminals out there are when it comes to getting overtime hours. I’m not adverse to working and obviously it goes by seniority but if it’s there, I’m gonna take it.
The thing right now is I have to work so much at these union companies to make a respectable check (in Los Angeles) where I can make about the same working a straight 40. Everything’s else is just an added bonus. Obviously there’s a pay difference between Reno/sparks and Los Angeles. Does anyone know the hourly rate at some of the other companies in the area?
It’s gonna be a few months before we officially move. I actually see a city driver opportunity at FXF right down the road here. Im thinking maybe I can get on with them then transfer down the line might be a good option?dwells40 Thanks this. -
There is NEV CAL they haul cans up and down 80

I remember the city guys at Estes would come in around 7-8am and I’d see a few of them leaving when I came in for my run around 8pm so they were getting a lot of overtime. Some even ran linehaul on Saturday for extra. I think over time is after 50 hoursGrove_LA Thanks this.
