What's the point of taking money from big donors if you don't also get to force people to do something stupid afterwards?

Govt programs solve the same problem over and over and over and not much else, they give the officials and bureaucrats an answer to the question "what have you done about X?"

Yes. Not trying to go political here, but one of Trump's first E.O.s was that for every new regulation, two had to be put up for removal. No way was the anti-safety power drunk turds at fmcsa gonna give up 2 to get 1.

The only way this nonsense is going to stop, is with legislation reigning in the fmcsa. BTW, we were warned that if the ELD mandate was allowed, speed limiters would be soon coming. Well here we are.

Let me guess from time to time Megas or donors will have an exemption? And it can be electronic controlled from the main office?

LOL I can actually picture how that would play out.

They'll make a rule that if a company has enough satisfactory inspections, they will be given "bonus mph" as a reward. The minimum number of inspections needed will be in the thousands, so no need to worry about the independents or small carriers ever qualifying.

more of a fabricated national emergency I was thinking about but your idea sounds much more frequently useable excuse.

Is there a particular speed being proposed as the limit or does that come later? I know there was rumors of it being 55 but I never saw anything official on that.

This sounds very early, so we have what? Another 10 years before anything actually happens? The wording makes it sound like it's just the device that'll allow the engine to be governed, no speed set yet. Be nice if it was like 80 but individual companies could set lower than that. Not holding my breath though.

You guys its not the ATA or the megas or what ever, it is the insurance companies and the special interest safety groups who all want speed limiters.
