This is true, I see the importance of hiring a lawyer if anything should happen down the road (although I'm going to make sure that I do everything in my power to prevent something like this again) but at this point, the ticket has been issued/paid and it's on my record. I love your suggestion about contacting the judge though. Maybe they could help but like you said, the worst they can say is no :)

The school that I plan on attending teaches on manuals, I definitely don't want any restrictions!

It does show up on my MVR. I pulled my record about 3 months after I got the ticket and it was on there.

A couple of other people have also mentioned taking a defensive driving course, I think that's a excellent idea and I'm going to look into it further.

    Thank you for the advice!

Like some others said, I would apply at the megas. I had several citations when I applied at Swift a couple years ago (one of them was very fresh) and they took me. They put me through their school and gave me a great start to my career. I stayed with them a year and a half. By the time I applied to the place I currently work, most of the citations were getting old so these guys took a chance on me. I didn't have any 15 overs but I doubt you're unhireable for just that one citation. If Swift won't take you, someone else will.

When I was younger I had a lead foot esp on the freeways. So one thing I did was stayed in the far right lane. Find slow pokes out on the road or 18-wheelers and stay behind them. After a couple of months I no longer had problems controlling my speed. Right lanes will be your friend here. It’s hard to speed for very long and there is rarely ever any peer pressure to speed up.

Funny you should mention this, i have definitely been finding lately that the right lane is my friend. I do a good amount of highway driving and this tip certainly does help a lot. Like you say, there is no pressure to speed up which is a good thing... I drive a fast car so going a higher rate of speed feels much more effortless and easy to dismiss then it does in a slower or heavier vehicle - I've just been trying so hard lately to keep a close eye on it.

You should have launched her out of there the first time you caught her stealing anything. The ‘Home’ is sacred and should be viewed as sacred by everyone that lives in there.
