What’s the actual date on the first conviction...?
Maybe a simple extension of your court date gets you past the 3 years.....
These kinds of problems is why you need a lawyer and not as a last resort.....
I’ve been in traffic court 4 times and got off completely 3 times and the 4th I was convicted as charged......all with a lawyer.
75% chance of getting off.... about the best odds you can ask for.

And to answer your first question it’s September or October 2015. So more like 2.5 years

I would do a lawyer first . If you meet the DA or anyone else with your lawyer wear a tie and or a suit ( if you have one).
How do I know this...?
Because as I’m standing there in my suit with my local lawyer the DA in some jerk water county said to me “I can see that your taking this seriously”.
All I said was “ yes sir this ticket is a big deal to me”....,,,
I walked completely on that one...
3rd lane violation over a bridge no less . Cop wasn’t even there...... -

FACT, A 15 over ticket is a MAJOR hit on your CDL. Get a 2nd one in 3 years and your going to be going on a long vacation. HOWEVER how you handle this one depends on how much energy you want to deploy. If you are willing to cop a guilty plea in return for a less over charge AND find a prosecutor willing to work with you that is a plus. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BY ASKING. Also despite what you are being told there are ABSOLUTELY NO guarantees fighting this in court with or without an attorney will succeed either. You have an even possibility that when this case is over your going to be out several hundred bucks for an attorney PLUS fines and court costs. This is a direct quote from one of your posts this morning. (This is a, “hey idiot, when will you stop making your life harder...” type of moment.) There comes a time when you need to wake up and do what is best to solve the overall problem NOT exacerbate it. The only thing I can do is tell you what I would do if I were still driving. I would see about getting the charge reduced. BTW this is all an attorney is going to do and charge you big $$$$ to do it. Ask any attorney what they charge to actually take a case to court. I was part of a situation right here in Hampton Va. The attorney stated MIN charge to come out and appear in court was $300. This was in addition to any other clerical work done before. If the DA won't deal then you need to see what your other options are. Just don't shoot yourself in the foot here. Your CDL is on the line. You admitted you were speeding. Man up, put your CDL as the first priority and fix this as best as you can. BTW this is the last public posting I am going to make on this issue. You have any further questions please use the PM option.

Slim51 Thanks this. -
I want to add again don’t make excuses and don’t try and lower the fine. Be honest, be willing to pay the fine, just make a point that this could harm you. Like I and others have said, they want the money. “I messed up, I’ll pay the fine amount, let’s talk about how this will go on my MVR”.

Paying a traffic ticket lawyer is always the way to go. They know the judges and prosecutors and can make a deal to get it knocked down to a non-moving violation. I had two speeding tickets in my personal vehicle last year (12 over and 15 over) after being clean for several years prior. I hired a traffic lawyer for each and got them pleaded down to parking infractions. I pulled my driving record a few weeks ago and it's completely clean.
Slim51 and EphTrucker Thank this. -
