I got a ticket for doing 72 in a 55 mph construction zone with no workers present. I don't believe I was going that fast. In fact, my qualcomm doesn't have me reaching that speed in there either. Obviously, I'm going to fight it. I've contacted 3 attorney's offices, waiting for them to call back now. My question is "do I have any hope of getting this reduced down so no points on my cdl and keeping my job?" Never had anything against my cdl except 1 ticket for being in the wrong lane in California over 10 years ago which I took care of. Thanks

Interested to see how this turns out. If the QC data is introduced as evidence for your defense, then you will probably end up admitting guilt for the speed that it does actually show that you reached.
Speeding in a construction zone didn't seem to turn out too well for a certain Wal-Mart driver a while back, either... -
Depends on the state, Construction Zone certainly adds a dimention thats tougher. Maybe get it down to a seatbelt, probably going to need a lawyer for this one.
fargonaz Thanks this. -
15-mph over the limit (in your case more) is considered a "serious violation" worthy of a 60-day disqualification of your CDL per 383.51e. I'd be worried about a lot more than just some measly points. I doubt you're going to weasel your way out of this. Moreover, its the insurance companies that decide who drives and who doesn't. Would you insure someone who drives with wreckless disregard of the law in a zone that's marked for drivers to take extra caution in their actions?

I believe ANY kind of speeding in a construction zone carries points. Seems like that's one area where DOT/LEO gives no slack, and for good reason..

4noreason, thanks, that's what I'm hoping for. Several people who have had this experience say it's just a money racket and I am willing to pay for my mistake. I don't want to be let out of my responsibility I just want to keep my job!

Happened to me in Indiana, 65 in a 45. Attorney got it reduced, got a few points, kept my job

Lately, it seems, construction zones are like school zones. I don't think you have much of a chance. I don't mean to be your mom, but what are you speeding in a construction zone for? I'd expect that from a 4 wheeler, but not a professional driver. Sorry.
Plus, the fines are usually double, not sure about points double, wouldn't surprise me, though.
