They must have been somewhat recent. Both of the felons still had to go see their PO's and at least one of the DWI guys had just gotten his license back.

Thank you everyone for all your input. We never realized how big of an effect this would have for him. We're just going to stick it out and wait a few years for it to come off his MVR and try again... oh yeah, and pay closer attention to the speed limit!! By the way, exactly how long does it take for something like this to come off his record? Thanks again everyone!

3 years to be considered for a driving job, but dont forget about the refresher he'll have to do. i.e. more money to spend.

Once you have a CDL, there is little way of removing an old record such as this. It would have been advisable prior to getting the CDL.

Once you have the CDL, you are correct in fighting tickets to keep them off the record.

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act is may remain on his record for as long as 7-years for public viewing however some motor carriers only look at the previous 3-years.

From a retired federal DOT official.

Interesting about schools letting you register knowing your mvr wont work out. That has just happened to me. I get my CDL tomorrow, April 24th 2012. I have 2 tickets in fall of 2010 both over 15.
In Mar I went "school shopping". I went to Roadmaster in Indy, that guy said no problem. Then I went to SAGE@IVYTECH in Muncie IN. Showed the school director my Indiana MVR and she said shouldnt be a problem that the companies are looking for DUIs, suspensions, accidents, etc.
So 4500.00 later, out of MY pocket, not the State's, or welfare or friends or citizens, but MINE ! I am gonna end up with a 4500 dollar driver's license that is only good for 2 years as opposed to my current one that cost 10bucks and was good til 2015 and I am getting rejections left and right.
All because I tried to re invent myself and get back to work. No criminal history, no drug history, no alcohol history, nothing but speeding tickets.
Part of being a good teaching program or school is also advising potential students properly and it really pisses me off that I tried to do due diligence and specifically showed and asked about my mvr and was told " no problem" and now I am jammed up. I stand accountable for my driving record and dont speed anymore, but I should have been told not to register for the class yet.
