They are not really allowed to decrease CDL tickets. This is known as cdl masking and the rules prohibit it.

You can point out the fact that running Westbound down Donner there are big yellow signs advising truckers to "let it roll" in order to save your brakes. Maybe you mistakenly thought this applied to everywhere in Calif. :biggrin_25524: Definitely fight this.....a decent attorney will at least be able to get it reduced under 70mph.

Then learn from your mistake and don't let it happen again cause I won't feel sorry for you next time. I run 60-62 out here on the Interstates and have never been bothered. My tickets have all come on roads where that 65' max length "CA legal" garbage is enforced albeit there are no signs anywhere etc. etc. It's a whole deal but suffice to say I have beaten them 3 out of 4 times now. The 4th time the fine was only $82 in my home county with my friendly local DOT cop so I paid that one as to not embarass him. Best to let him have a taste of glory since I live here.

15MPH or over can get you FIRED and make u not employable for 1 yr. Trust me as it took a lawyer to get mine reduced from 18 over to 8 over. Company said INS. told them 15 or more is same as reckless op. I had no other tickets and 4yrs w/company but was suspended until it was cleared.

Yeah lawyer up! I haven't had any tickets in over a decade and one day I go to a motorcycle shop for a BBQ and before I know it, I'm taking one on a Demo ride. I get on the freeway and fall in behind traffic and get going. All of the sudden I get lights behind me. 80 in a 65. The Cop knocked it down to 5 over .Got caught in a Speed trap. They had a Trooper parked on a Bridge and several were lined up on the on ramp. Paid 300 bucks and got it reduced and was able to do a plea in abeyance on it. Utah really dislikes being told by the Feds, what to do. But with the MVR's giving your entire driving history now, It really didn't do me any good

The 55mph speed limit in California is to reduce fuel consumption -- not for safety. If you don't like it, don't run CA. 81mph is inexcusable so I hope they throw the book at you.

    That sign says incline ahead.

The length limit in CA is 65' everywhere but national network & some approved routes. Outside of the interstate, if you do not see a blue sign with a "T" inside the outline of a truck -- the limit is 65'

So shouldn't cars have to run 55 to conserve fuel also?

If they throw the book at him then it might as well hit you in the head before it gets to him.

I didnt mean to direct that to you. That was directed to the OP. Nothing ticks me more than some driver who gives a 'poor me' attitude when they get caught doing someting stupid. I dont care if your CDL is your bread maker. You should have thought of that before you drove like an idiot.
