    Hello drivers,

I got a speeding ticket driving my car in the Yukon territory in Canada on my way to Alaska. It was for 30-50 kph over the speed limit, which was 90 kph.

Will this show up on my driving record? I have a Texas CDL-A Tanker/Hazmat.

Do I need to disclose this to employers in the US?

I won't fight it if it doesn't show up on my US driving record. Not sure I would anyways at it is hundreds of miles away.

Any advice or feedback is very much appreciated. I'm getting ready to go into the Alaska DMV to switch my license to Alaska, which probably has reciprocity with Canada. Since the ticket was written against the TX license, it probably doesn't matter. I don't know if TX has reciprocity.

    Thanks

Interesting quandary. I would presume if you change your license from TX to AK prior to any legal proceedings, it won't appear anywhere. Though, if you ignore it, it may be unwise to venture into Canada in the future.

Some border states has reciprocity but not all, one thing for sure PAY the fine it might take 20 years but one way or another it will come back and haunt you.

I cannot tell you how many times i have seen drivers at the border "both side" being tell they are under warrant for unpaid fines many years ago...

The few hundreds $ fines turn into few thousands...

As a CDL holder you are held to a higher standard and part of the rules is that if you get a driving related ticket outside of your state it is your responsibility to notify your home state and your employer within 30 days on these tickets, however on this tick as it was over the 15 over the limit, even in metric standards, 50 kph is about 30 mph, you only have until the next business day to inform both the state of your license and your employer. Pay the ticket and slow down!.

So you were driving about 80 in a 55 (more or less)??? As a CDL holder, what were you thinking?

I was tired and near the end of a 5600 mile drive. Wanted to get to Anchorage before dark to avoid another night sleeping in the car. It was very remote, with few other vehicles within miles of me. So I pushed it and paid the price. It was like 82 in a 55 mph zone,
