My ticket was in an old speed zone at the old school right on edge of town. They have it at 25 because it used to be a school zone. When they abandon the school 20 years ago they never changed the speed limit and use it for a money grab. Since it is almost out in the sticks it looks like it would be 45 mph. Got me at 47 and cop said same to me when he pulled me over.
He said it was 25 and I was like nope dude that area is 45. He laughed and I laughed and he gave me a ticket. Ha Ha but was super nice about it and even gave me a heads up if I ever went through the area again. I always took the other way around since it is faster but traffic was backed up. The cops all know me in the area because I walk my pup right by the station every morning and afternoon when home and wave at them. Talk to a few every once in a while and they stop and give Rocco some love. He has the lady cops wrapped around his paws.

When he filled the ticket out he made a commit on it about the speed zone needing to be changed since it was no longer a school zone. Think that is why they didn't push for the fine and let me do community service with no issue.

So I went to court yesterday and spoke in front of the judge. The judge wasnt able to do anything like traffic school or an alternative because of federal masking laws. I asked for a reduction and the city attorney said he would speak with the citing officer who was present. The officer refused and city attorney said ok, no reduction.

My insurance renewal comes up in two weeks. Bad timing.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, I got a ticket similar to @Siinman, driving around outskirts of a city, what I didn’t know was there was a college about a mile away on the other side of the corner fields, and while the speed limit wasn’t marked, it was only 25. I got popped off doing 47. Wasn’t able to make the court date, but sent a hand written letter of apology, acknowledging I had been speeding out of ignorance, along with a check for the fine, and didn’t make any issues at all. Somehow, that particular ticket isn’t showing on my record either…. :dontknow:

Maybe felt sorry for you and at least had the money. How long ago was the ticket taken care of? I was super scared of that ticket since I was getting insurance renewed about a month later as well.

For sure let us know how this comes back when you renew your insurance. I would also shop around regardless. Think you will be surprised that Progressive is gonna be higher than some of the other places now that you have more than 2-3 years in. Out of curiosity what are you paying now for the year? I am just around 11500 for the year with 23 Volvo and 22 Dry Van. Also only pay by the qtr since no discount for paying for full year with Great West.

My insurance is some of the cheapest I've seen talked about online. Im at about $5600 for a 2017 t680, flatbed, 250k cargo. Located in TN with an 800ish credit score and perfect driving record (until now), and no cargo claims.
Even though I've been with Progressive the entire time I was going to shop around. Mostly because a lot of brokers and shippers have been cracking down on Progressives no coverage for wetness with a tarped load policy. A couple months ago they added a program that covers that and added it to existing customers without an extra charge though. Ill probably stay with Progressive now unless they really put the hammer down on me for the ticket, then I'd probably shop around.

That was several years ago. Didn’t have an insurance renewal right away afterwards, but I most definitely did NOT like the “stand in the corner” feeling of writing that apology note….

I got a speeding ticket in Guymon OK and googled searched a law firm who specializes in removing tickets in favor of a fine. That's what he did. It took 1 phone call. I paid the cost + his fee and the court condition was it was suspended if I didn't get any new ones in that OK county. It was deferred. I never had to appear. It was over in 3 weeks and nothing is on my record. You REALLY need to at least try to get one these ticket lawyers and just pay them.

That is pretty darn good. Is it for over 500 miles or local? Shocked if it is over 500 miles and jealous. Ha ha
