My safety just sent a message to all drivers in my fleet via QC. Our e-logs will be updated by the evening of the 18th. The New law "officially suspends the requirements for two periods of 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. and the limit on using the restart only every 168 hrs. Now the 34 hour restart period may begin ANYTIME within the 70 hr./8 day period. Therefore ANYTIME you have 34 consecutive hrs. off duty you will reset to a full 70 hrs."

The FMCSA is now recognising the suspension of the 34-hour reset and the so-called mandatory 1am to 5am breaks (as of 12/16/2014), so enough of all the conjecture! And will you all PLEASE stop saying, "revert back"?! One does not revert back, one reverts TO! Not to mention that the 34-hour reset was not so mandatory in the first place, but that's another confused argument! Wow this thread is really bothering my OCD! :)
