Can we do it like this? Drive 8 rest 8 drive 8 again and so on. Like they used to do 5 on and 5 off.

No because you would violate the 14 hour rule:biggrin_25513:

He would not violate the 14 but the 11 hour rule. He would be more than safe on the 14 hour. If you add the driving time prior to the 8 hour break and after the 8 hour break it would total 16 hours of driving. It can only total 11 hours (Or less). You would have to stop for 2 hours once you hit a total of 11 hours.

Thank you. I started driving right about the time the split break rule was changed so I never used it. Anyways I took an 8 hour break and then drove 2 hours and then took another 9 hour break and drove around 6 hours. I only did this because I was headed home and didnt need more than 7 hours of on duty time.
If you stopped for 2 hours once you reached 11 how much driving time would you be allowed afterwards?

You would add up the driving hours prior to the 2nd break and subtract that answer from 11. That is how many hours you have available to drive.

So if I do the below after a 10 hour break

    drive 6
    sleep 8
    drive 5
    off 2
I can now drive 6 hours because 11-5=6

Many will say you gain the hours prior to the first break, this is a bad habbit to get in. What if you 1) didn't finish all the hours you could of on your second period of driving, this means you really have more hours to drive on the next round. 2) If you went over and didn't know it, at least you won't continue the violation again :).

the 8/2 split is very tricky and hard to get of off and it seems like your always worried about the hours of driving instead of whats going on in front/behind you. the only way to break the 8/2 split is take a 10 hr break. my feeling is you might just want to stick to the 11/14 like driveng ten. but since your driving teams your best bet is 10's or 5's and then you will be ok.

Oh it is EASY to figure out how many hours you have available on your 11 & 14. You just have to study until you learn it and then when you learn it you will be glad you did! BELIEVE ME! It is to eazy!

You are so so funny. It really is easy. Just to learn is a little hard, but when you have the graphs in your face and someone willing to teach you it is easy. Just keep trying and you will learn it and then you will know more than 90 % of the truckers out there and you can be super trucker:yes2557:
