Ok, I'll accept that. Wife and I did LTL with FFE up the east coast a time or two. We had a load of oranges from Fort Lauradale that had 4 drops on it. Leaving aside the stories associated with the 4 individual drops, one went to churches, one into a private home (That was interesting.) and another went into a second private home in a cul de sac with like 30 kids helping out to lump it after we made some very good faith efforts to aim that 53 footer into a driveway in the dead of night. Talk about wake up the neighbors. But they were all good about it.
That was one load to remember. Among several others.
We both usually worked the LTL loads coming on or unloading regardless of logbook hours. It's not Kosher with DOT logs but when wife is in a bind, you go help her. You both can spend a half day asleep when it's all over to catch up before taking on the next load. Sometimes our landing gear would be down and we would be snuggled up next to a building larger than we are to break the wind and create a good stable sleeping platform. Otherwise it's a night in a good hotel. If we did not do that now and then then truck sick becomes a problem. (Too many miles for too many days. You literally hop out and puke right there into the grass.)

@x1Heavy -
You were doing OTR refrigerated LTL deliveries. The OP is talking about doing team linehaul runs with an LTL Freight carrier. All drop/hook, no touching freight, and no actual deliveries - just runs between company terminals. Most of those companies are paying well over 60 cpm these days, plus pay for drop/hooks and fueling. I get 2500 miles + per week doing this type of work and am home every day. I'd bet a good team run might be around 6,000 miles per week.
@blairandgretchen used to run team doing linehaul for Old Dominion. I believe they pay 64 cpm now, but I think I heard teams may get a higher rate.
@canviskiller - I've heard of people using FedEx Ground as a stepping stone, but I wouldn’t if you can avoid it. Those drivers are abused (in my opinion) due to the lack of benefits and low pay, but it could be a better deal than you have now. Good luck, man.
Btw - did you try R&L? They always want teams.Last edited: Mar 23, 2017
Toomanybikes, G13Tomcat, canviskiller and 1 other person Thank this. -
We handled LA FFE to Avenel FFE yard to yard, whatever was in the trailer was usually 20 or more stops for the entire NE above NYC. Very intense trucking for us. 8000 miles at times on the ground twice a week without stopping for months. We did good with those. No deliveries or unloading to bother our time or energy. Just focused on the mileage. It was unfortuante that FFE had paper processing in those days and we would not get paid for several weeks.
canviskiller Thanks this. -
Thru their front door and ask for it.
Drive the other companies truck there if you have too.
Take a copy of both of your applications and
Drivers records. There's a 95 percent chance that
Somebody will give you 15 minutes of face to face
