I am on E logs. I am making a 13 hour run. I would like to split sleeper as it will be at least a couple of hours on the dock. What would be the best formula? Thanks

There's only one formula, 8 hours in the sleeper and 2 hours off duty or in the sleeper. The order does not matter, how you fit them into your 14 does.

Yatista is correct. The 8 hours in the sleeper will extend your 14 hour work window by 8 hours but will not give you a fresh 11 hours or fresh 14 to work until you have a full 10 hour break.

The old rules of splitting no longer apply.

If I understand correctly, 8 in the sleeper will not add to my 11. I will have to take 10 off to get more drive time. Correct?

Correct sir. Provided you have time within your 70 hour/8 day limit.

Splitting with e-logs can be pretty easy...
On the qualicom it does it on mine,by just pausing the 14 hrs when you take the 8....so you must have time left to run when you stop...or you need to complete the 10...
then when you start again, yo can finish the time you had left on your 14...the main plus is you recouo the time you were not onduty towards your 14 that you were off dutyfor. Since you will be running hard, no real change...you do not cover miles faster with an 8/2 split....you mearly can do for example 8 in a roadside reststop....then drive, then do 2 at a truckstop, get a shower and food, and not loose time on your 14....
with my qualicom, it gives me my fresh driving time st the completion of the 10...
So after you do an 8, tjen the two, you will get some drive time back....and it calculates it by looking at the hrs before and previous break...and that will be you total.it gives you to run before you must stop.....you basicly get 2x the chsnces to get a violation.......can be useful, but the isdue is, you can be in the sleeper at a shipper/reciever, but not really off duty....

Call/message your dispatcher. Let him/her tell you what to do. If you're not satisfied with the answer you get, have your dispatcher hook you up with Safety. In other words, CYA!!:biggrin_25525:
