There was just one guy that made a comment bout "women arguing with a fence post..."
    sexism does exist, LOL!
Had 1 old trucker get n my face once and cuss me about "women dont belong in trucks, your stealing a MANS livelyhood trying to support his family"
Exactly what I was doing, cause I was married 2 a bum at that point in time...

I just try to treat my sugar momma good, she makes more than I ever will so I just go with the flow. Be as sexist as you want, just know that I'm going to talk about you behind your back. I'm way to non-confrontational to do it to your face.

I used to work for company that required 5% idle or less. Was a nightmare but do able. Personally it wasn't worth my time. Took a better job for a small outfit and never looked back. I always did find it ironic how when it comes to saving money it's placed squarely on the drivers shoulders. I've never once seen a company attempt to cut budget waste in the office or shop. After all can't they sit in the office and do paper work with the windows open and a/c off?

If a company is placing cost avoidance on drivers they usually do the same thing with the office staff. They just do it differently. They wont turn the AC off, they'll set it differently. Wage freeze, end of bonus programs, longer hours, less staff, more responsibility. So just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not happening.

Unless you work in the office you don't know what goes on. There is a greater likelihood of waste with the driver than anything at the office. Besides, management can usually see what happens at the office. It isn't always as easy to see what is going on with the driver. If waste occurs it is usually with the driver. There is no need to idle much of the time. Companies should not say anything about a driver idling if there are extremes in weather where the driver needs to idle to stay comfortable. Carriers understand that some drivers will go out of route, idle unnecessarily, abuse their equipment and steal. It is those drivers that make it more difficult for the other drivers. Idling is one area where much abuse occurs.

There is no excuse for idling in good weather and your statement is true GMan. But on the other hand drivers are beat everyday on the actual miles driven, beat on detention, layover and other forms of pay. Those stolen monies pay for the other stolen monies. :)

I would like to see all carriers use hub miles. I do use hub in my business. With current technology, carriers could pay hub miles. I think some use HHG to help offset out of route some driver do. I also believe that most carriers pay detention if they collect it from shippers. There are carriers who take advantage of drivers just as there are drivers who take advantage of their carrier. If we are to be honest, carriers need to allow for drivers who abuse their assigned equipment, go out of route and steal from them.

Not every driver is treated like this , know some that get it ALL and still not happy

You get paid actual miles? What company you work for? I want to work there.

Drivers get shorted some 8% every week. It's been going on so long everyone accepts it.

I agree when I was dispatching and had to figure out transit time I always added 10% to the miles. It was the only way to make it realistic.

To the guy that said everyone should be paid for HUB miles I have to disagree. Too many guys get lost or drive significantly OOR on their trips. You'd be giving money away hand over fist. The only way I'd pay like that is if I chose your route and you followed it no questions asked. Any variance from the routing I provide you would come directly from your pay.
