A little less, but that's a good thing. We're not paid "by the mile" - we get a percentage of linehaul, fuel surcharge and accessorials. In other words, we get a bucket of money, and what's left over after expenses is yours. More miles means more fuel- less for you.
My preference is 3 or 4 months between a good break, with a night or two in between when I happen to get a load home. But that's me. You can have as much hometime as you can afford. A week means no revenue to offset your fixed costs, which will come out of your next settlement. 4 days at home for a company guy means a short check- but if maximum hometime is important you'll get more on the company side. Lease guys have a business to run.

Most of the time it's not bad, but it really has it's moments. I think people that really want to go flatbed will do ok, but the ones that go into it to make more money have a hard time.Emolson said: ↑So flatbed gets the most work. It looks harder than I thoughtClick to expand...
I cruse at 60 and get a weekly average around 7.3-7.6, it gets worse if I slow down, truck problem. It's a weekly average so you have a chance during the week to get it back up if it drops. There is better fuel mileage on the reefer side.Emolson said: ↑Now its 7.25OpenRoadDreamer said: ↑7.25 is what they want. Good luck with that.Click to expand...
. This would mean most of the time I would have to drive 55-58mph. Might go with their lease insteadClick to expand... -
My truck wont get 7s without a miracle. I drive 58mph, thats it. If Im in a hurry, Ill kick it up to 62. I do my best. FM compared me to a driver thats getting over 8s. Our driving styles are almost mirror images of each other. My truck just wont do it. If I get over 7 a week, I get a message congratulating me on this. This run wont help neither. Got 49,000+ on the trailer going down US40 in Md/Pa. I was just trying to survive.

Hope your next truck is better.

ORD really wants a cute truck. Not willing to admit it though!
da1 Thanks this. -
Well think im planning to go to orientation next week. For a solo driver at Prime the only thing I dont like is the lightweight trucks. Dont want to drive them and the only way to get a full size truck is to lease, team or train
