What happends in one truck for fuel mpg doesnt always match what another truck does. Shifting, terrain, and load weight plays a factor. Just the performance aspect of it can be the difference
-
Not to mention the really great downgrade from Cheyenne to North Platte!
da1 Thanks this. -
it was broken when i got it but it will getsome rest soon...that time in ID was the only time ive had something major go wrong so i believe we are doing good
mikeyb sure does was running across NM on US87 into TX was getting great mpg(lite load) til i hit a head wind in TX so many factors go into mpg -
That's where keeping a logbook of how you're doing on mileage really helps. You can see patterns and trends that way in the record of data that you keep - not just guessin' about what's happening.da1 Thanks this.

Emolson said: ↑You only need to drive as fast as it takes to get to your destination, and meet your appointments. On the lease side, fuel savings goes directly into my pocket, and driving faster than necessary drives up costs more quickly than you can recoup them through more loads - especially if that appointment can't be reset. In effect all you're doing is blowing money on fuel in order to sit on your butt at a truckstop. Running fast doesn't necessarily get you there any faster either - its harder to maintain a higher average speed because of traffic, construction delays, etc. - this effects both company and lease drivers.ledzeppelin said: ↑The higher mpg you get the more money you make. James77 said: ↑Yes Iam back on the road, and feeling happy about that to. I was already missing it lol. Im not with Prime, only for one reason. Not ready to try the lease yet. I tried out another plan instead and that was to save money on the side for lease Incase if I have a problem to make a payment. Maybe in the next 6 months or so, I will be ready to try it out. I just dont understand why do I want to try it so bad. I know its a hard thing to handle and know that not everyone can lease but I want to try this experience on my own on how to run a business. Its my next goal to accomplish. After I left Werner and went to go see my brother for a visit, I was planning to go local trucking in Georgia. But I didnt want to go local now and then after 6-7 months it would be hard for a company to hire me so whats the point I should just stay otr. So I needed a job quick. After some time looking I did find a company. Its a small reefer company but its alright, im doing great there. I would prefer a big trucking company than a small one for more benefits and other opportunities. To be honest im getting miles and im on the road more. Im currently in the west coast. Im driving a blue 2010 Freightliner Cascadia. This truck can go up to 74, but I average 65-70mph. Dont know in a few months if things will change but Im feeling happy there. After 6-7 months like this I will be ready for lease.Emolson said: ↑Emolson, your back. Are you with Prime now?? Did everything go great?Click to expand...Click to expand...
