Hello folks, I've made the decision to get into trucking. If the State unemployment agency doesnt provide a grant for the CDL training I'm looking at three options; C.R England, F.F.E or Swift. Any thoughts on these programs or are there any other company sponsored schools that you would recommend over these?

i think they all allow drivers to train to early, but swift seems to be the better of what you listed with ffe then england dead last..
one good point i have heard about england is they will loan you money to live on while training.. not sure if that is true but i have read it here some where
either way you go stay away from the L/P deal learn to drive and move onBig_Trill Thanks this. -

I've heard prime is a good company to start with. I'm going to be starting at c1 little rock Monday, driving with USA. But yeah, I've heard mostly good things about prime.

I've been to the FFE academy. You pay for your permit test and everything else is covered. No money taken from your check ever. Drive for them for one year and no money owed. If you don't have it what it takes to be a potential driver that will not stamp you thru. I have 5 plus years experience and let my cdl go and had to go back thru. I learned a few new things. Now I'm a trainer for FFE because I know what the students went thru to graduate. I know I'm getting someone to train with potential. Just thought I would share with you my experience.

When I first re-considered getting my CDL, my girlfriend mentioned an ad she'd seen for England. I didn't like the idea of being stuck in a city I don't know without a car, and being committed to one specific carrier. Now, having heard all the bad about England, I'm glad I didn't go that route. Instead, I'm going to a local school and using my GI Bill benefits. I'd recommend that option first, if at all available, even if you have to pay out-of-pocket.
I'd rather starve than drive for England. As a new driver, I also wouldn't go to any company that will push me really hard to take a lease on a truck.Big_Trill Thanks this. -
If you can do out of pocket school that's good. Try and get some info on what you learn at these schools. They are all different. Go with the one that is going to set you up with the skills needed to be the driver you can. Avoid the ones that push students thru like cattle. Your not paying thousands for a cdl, your paying for fundamental theory on safety and professional driving techniques.
