Right now I have tandem axle reefer. When I haul water loads I am heavy on my drives. Tandems are all the way forward and I'm about 1k over on drives because of the way they load the water. Will a spread axle fix this? Getting ready to by another trailer and trying to decide if spread is worth it.
Empty full of fuel and apu.
10960 steer
14600 drives
9680 trailer
35240 total
fifth wheel is adjusted to be a little over 12k on steer full of fuel.

Can't you ask them to load you differently?
-
It will make the problem worse. Spread axle trailers have to be loaded light in the nose.
p608 and ready2truck Thank this. -
I heard, with a spread axle wagon, it's almost impossible to be over on the trailer. I thought with a spread, you can go 20K on an axle, or 40K for the wagon. No?

I pull a spread axel. Yes you can have 40k on the trailer axels but it's not going to help the nose. It's all in the way they are loading the trailer. I have made shippers fully unload me to fix overweight issues. It is what it is. You will wear tires faster with a spread so think about that also. I generally only get about 12 - 14 months out of the tires on average. Most the time I have to replace them due to them chunking tread off rather then wear.

When I'm getting loaded do I say "load 1/2/1 on the nose? I was at a robot load facility.
