You can load 40k on a spread and only 34k on a closed tandem.

You will never have to slide tandems again. Huge plus. Once you buy a spread axle, you'll likely never go back to a closed tandem. Plus, at least with a spread reefer, they are hard to load wrong. The front axle of the trailer takes alot of weight off the drives, placing this weight on the trailer where it's more forgiving, given the 40,000 pound limit.

Only drawback, the front axle of the trailer, chews up tires at a quicker pace when making tight turns. Solution. Don't make tight turn.

The solution is to be able to flip a switch so that don't happen...:yes2557:

I've never heard of anyone saying "man I sure miss my tandem" after owning a spread. You hardly ever see a truck with a spread on a set of truckstop scales, that alone would pay for it's self with a van/reefer.
