I agree with what you are saying there are abusers that ruin it for the many with these unlimited plans. The folks that like to download large GB files and movies should be able to do so. But they should pay more for their service(MUCH MORE) that's why I like the teared plans. You can buy all you want and use it to your hearts content with no throttling or termination threats but at the same time in the back of your mind you know the costs to do so. I don't believe cell based internet was ever designed to take the place of your home internet. It was designed for business use and some communication. Large movies or X Box is not what it was built for. For large file download ALLWAYS use land based DSL or WYFI its almost EVERYWHERE these days. The new LTE network is like nothing I have ever seen before! The speeds are even better than my home internet. Here is my last speed test with my xoom tablet on the LTE network-THATS FAST and it has remained so to this very day. I recommend other drivers try the LTE network for themselves!. No stuttering when using video chat and none of the problems 3G had experienced. I hope by eliminating the "UNLIMITED" plans that cell based internet will be a much better and more productive experience for the masses!. If you want to play games or watch movies you should pay more for the privilege or use land based WYFI or DSL for your large downloads.JMO By the way, I noticed Verizons 4G LTE service is now selling twice the GBs for the same price limited time special Buy 2 GBs get 2GBs free etc.

That'd all be fine if they weren't already charging more for increasingly worse service than you pay for home internet which is several times faster. It's gotten to the point that I'm having problems making phone calls when the signal is full on the phone. As soon as I hit the call button, signal drops to zero, soon as I hang it up, back to full. Internet works so I really do have signal.
They told me before that the towers drop calls on purpose to regulate the total bandwidth. -

1. I can still download as much as I want, whenever I want on home internet (and on 3g, actually).
2. 4g is pointless if you hit your cap in five minutes and get hit with $10,000 in overage fees.
3. 4g is still only in major cities, which I avoid.
4. It's still more expensive for no real reason.

AT&T has started (And Time Warner too) to impose usage caps on DSL/U-Verse lines. No more unlimited downloading.
-its all in the TOS that was released over the summer..
The caps are rather high though. Normal users would never reach them. -
so it is NOT more expencive. And NO surprise overage charges I see my usage in real time on my tablet and if I need another GIG or two I can choose to buy them or not and for a flat fee of $10.00 a GIG No surprises there The key word is "NORMAL USER". The days of the unlimited user clogging up and slowing everyone else's cell internet bandwidth downloading the full library of Congress and 15 movies in full HD, and new 8 GB X Box games are numbered, or they WILL pay dearly for the privilege of doing so but it will be THEIR CHOICE.

Well at a download rate of 50 mb/s It would take you 102 secounds to reach your 5 gig limit. Lets say 2 minutes. There is about 43,000 minutes in a month. That means for your $30 a month you can only use your full potential for 0.4 percent of the pay period.
Thats like buying a hotel for the day, And then only being allowed to stay in it for 6 minutes. -
