Sprint removing Unlimited 4G November 2011

I've been thinking about that rooting stuff but I'm kind of afraid to attempt it since for one, you have to be like, at least a first or second degree black belt in computer geek and two, if done wrong, you can brick your phone. As far as warranty goes, I've almost had my phone for a year so voiding the warranty isn't a concern.

 

Just Pay the $29 and be done with it

 

I may end up doing that someday but truth be known, its BS to have to pay for for both of those at the same time when you only need one or the other.

With my Epic, rooting was a 3 step process, and took less than 10 minutes.
The I just got another Epic (old one was replaced by Sprint) and bought my wife one also.
I had them both rooted, and with a hybrid ROM (basically an ICS emulator) within 10 minutes.
Battery life is soooo greatly improved on most of the custom ROM/kermels you are doing yourself a great disservice by leaving it stock
Not to mention, being able to use the HotSpot feature for free

 

I never could find any, what seemed to be, solid information on it. I'd like to try it but I don't wanna jack up my phone.

Also, how do you do this and still get software and firmware updates? What about prl updates?
If anything, I'd be happy with removing all the bloatware off my operating system.

But heres a though you can have up to 5 connections on your hot spot at one time pull in the truck stop and let other drivers use it for a fee and it pays for itself and you can make a profit

 

No u don't just for to xda developers and find your phone then go to development section of your phone they have rooting and flashing guides along with youtube step but step guides which is easier for first time people its in the sticky section u can either use odin which is by far the easier and its the software company's use when they fix your phone u can use 1 click root or use adb and push it manually

You can unroot if you ever soft brick your phone and also when u need to take it back to your service provider for repairs

Prl are preferred roaming list that connect u to cell towers if you are rooted the ota updates will not be able to go thru because u are on a rooted kernel not a stock 1 and the ota updates look for certain files and software in your phone in order to update but u can always flash the updates through cwm which is where u go to flash roms zip files kernels etc its basically going into recovery mode to push such things
