There is a chirp/squeak under the dash/steering column or near the fuses. I took off the panels that cover the area, cannot locate it but it is driving me crazy. Only happens while driving of course, had my girlfriend look try to hear it and see where its at. Still haven't found the spot that is doing it. I greased the front cab mounts. Any ideas?

Have you greased the little inserts the hood rests on when down against the cab? What about your steering shaft ujoints? Also you may want to check the gasket the steering shaft goes through in the cab. Should be rubber. Maybe some lithium spray would do the trick. What kind of truck?? Lots of plasitic or not?

Thank you, I will look into those areas..Peterbilt 2003 379 exhd is the truck. We did grease the bumpers for the hood rest. How can you tell when the cab mounts are going out or is there a bushing for the front cab mount?

There should be but not for sure. I would find anything and everthing that turns, pivots, or has pressure on it and lube it and you should eventually narrow it down.

You can check cab mounts for wear check for cracks check the topside where the cab sits on top it should not be smashed anymone then the lower check the screws that hold the dash board to the main dash structure and steering column bolts to the structure Pete dashes are always coming loose also the upper hood supports of you pull the dash apart you will see a support that runs from where those supports mount to the door jamb area they should be huckbolted on bit they work loose a lot also check your door hinge they make a lot of noise if there loose

Sound travels, can drive you nuts trying to locate source, as you prolly know. Friends Pete had simliar, turned out to be broken brace from radiator to fire wall.

On the back of the fuse block, it was a bare wire rubbing on the inside of the cab, and when it would trip the circuit breaker. Found it last night.
