Hi everyone, I live in California and I have an SR-22 for negligent operator because I accumulated too many points on my driving record and my driver’s license was suspended for year and I need to have proof insurance for 3 years until 2027. Currently, I have 1.5 points on my driving record. All the other points dropped off.
I want to know if trucking companies will hire me because of my SR-22. Has other truck driver’s experienced this as well?
SR-22 (California) and getting hired to drive?

@Chinatown can likely recomend SOMETHING..... that said......my guess is no good company will touch you and your going to be left mostly with 1099 chicago operators who are going to treat you as slave labor.

Later on in the year, like in the early Spring, you might be able to get a job with one of the ag companies in California. I wouldn't count on getting anything decent though. The insurance companies usually decline to cover someone with a record like yours and that means that no reputable company will hire you.
Try Mike Lowrie or Button in Vacaville. Morning Star Tomato
You're basically screwed. Most insurance companies will decline coverage on you and that means no driving job.
The only thing you might get is ag work...harvest hauling from the field...later in the year. It's seasonal but it's a step toward getting back to real truck driving. Brush up on your foreign languages if you go that route. Spanish, Hmong, Punjabi, Hindi, Farzi, and Ebonics will help you get along and communicate with your fellow workers.
They'll start crewing up around Easter. Mike Lowrie, Button, Morning Star Tomato, are all places that hire drivers that can't work anywhere else.
Another alternative...get a job in somebody's truck shop. One of our competitors had a kid that was a screw-up and they had to take him off the road before he lost his license entirely. They put him to work in the shop, greasing, changing tires, washing trucks, being the janitor, whatever needed to be done. After five years his license was clean again and they put him back in a truck. He hasn't had a ticket since. Apparently spending five years cleaning toilets and washing mud off of dump trucks does wonders for acceptable behavioral patterns.Sirscrapntruckalot, blairandgretchen, kemosabi49 and 2 others Thank this. -
