Do not turn the power level too high. Key the radio, and set the power level to 5-10 watts on the radios meter, or an inline power meter would be more accurate if you have one.
The link to this site has the radio user manual as a download

Ty I was told by my boss he got it custom from a guy who spent a mint on it and claims it will reach out and find others lol so I got it and of course not haveing a clue turned knobs not realizing how complicated it really was

Well i would like to think that the shop that setup your radio would have it adjusted so that you can turn the rf power, mic gain, and rf gain all the way up. That radio should have pep wattage of 50 so your deadkey should be at least 10 watts without any problem.
-
That's the thing how do I adjust that and your right I'm sure the mods were done concise ring the guy spent what he did on it I'm such a newb at this that's why I came here knowing that there was people that k ow this stuff inside out to at least get me started on right path

So to summarize like bout z said band d, am, mic gain full clockwise same for rf power and rf gain. Now ask for radio check and listen for constructive feedback from drivers. If raspy sounding cut mic gain back to 300, if too much static turn back rf gain to 300, if it sounds pinched up turn back rf power control, if you hear no replies you may not be on 11 meter with band d, i have a galaxy 99v2 that is on band e for 11 meter. Finally if you want echo set inside knob to 1200 and outside control to 800. Good luck you will get the hang of it every radio has its own personality.TheDude1969 Thanks this.

You've got a nice radio, I'm really impressed with the Stryker brand.
In the link Bout Z gave is an owners manual, scroll to page 8 to identify the controls. And also as he said set the band selector to D, mode AM, RB off, NB/ANL your preference, +10khz off.
Next turn the PWR knob all the way down, MON all the way up while setting audio (every stryker I've tried had very quiet talkback). Turn MIC gain up till you get feedback from the talkback then back off. Next adjust your echo aka VOL/DEL, these radios really shine with just a hair... I set my VOL to half, and DEL just above off (on mine any more than that is just annoying). Now your ready for a radio check. Turn your PWR up to the point your not out talking your ears... I'm sure you can figure the volume squelch and rf gain, all your preference's. -
Rf gain knob all the way to the right squelch knob all the way to the left
Mic gain knob all the way to the right
If people tell you it sounds distorted or muffled then someone did some internal damage to the radio and you need to find a better technician.
If you hear a bunch of static in your receiver and are unable to hear people more than 10 miles away then you need to find a better technician because whoever set the radio up originally does not have a clue.darthanubis Thanks this. -
Just a question but why squelch all the way to the left doesn't that just have static most time ? Here I was waiting for chatter now the idiots with talk boxes or whatever you call the taking all the time with their games ahhhhhhh
