This is why I'm done with CB. He knows we drive trucks, the factory Stryker mic is not noise cancelling. Why not mention to those buying radios from him that he'll tune the radio to the noise cancelling mic of the customer's likening? Instead, he said before this video, that the stock mic works better. When it doesn't if you can have a sra 198 tuned to the radio. I don't consider that truth in advertising. We pay a lot for the radio and his tune. The least he could do is offer all of this advise at once and not try to nickle and dime us to death. Super, mic, super tune, coax, antenna , mfj equipment. Pizz off with this. I know he's your friend, but I'm starting to see where @Ridgeline is coming from.
At the very least he should have the fortitude to come hear and justify his positions, instead of having you do it for him.Last edited: Jun 13, 2016
bored silly, davew48 and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
You saw the flat frequency response with your own eyes when he tried to say the letter S on the stock unmodified radio.
After altering the frequency response of the radio only then did the microphone become useful.darthanubis Thanks this. -
He doesn't tune the microphone to the radio.
In fact the sole purpose of that video is to show people that unless you have one of his radios that microphone is totally useless.
Have you ever noticed someone on the radio where it is hard to tell the difference between the letter S and the letter F?Last edited: Jun 13, 2016
Reason for edit: Pluraldarthanubis Thanks this. -
There is one aftermarket microphone actually there are two aftermarket microphones one of which is no longer manufactured that provide the frequency response he is looking for. The first microphone he recommended back in the day was the original Telex Road King 56. My Electro Voice 602 T microphone meets his rigorous standards.
Not all microphones are created equal. That's what he's trying to show you. -
I guess the other point of that video is to demonstrate why that microphone will sound good on Mark's radios but sound crappy on other technicians radios.
darthanubis Thanks this. -
Back in the old days you could buy a Cobra 29 and a Road King 56 at a truck-stop and hook it all up and five minutes later you'd be Broadcasting with great fidelity and exceptional intelligibility.
With all the microphone companies going out of business in the United States our microphone options are shrinkingdarthanubis Thanks this. -
It's not Marks fault that Telex no longer manufactures the road king 56.
