Hey Guys
Trying to help a friend. He has a 2008 Peterbilt 8.6L .
Temps have been Zero to 20 Below the last few days. His Pete starts right up and runs fine for about 10 min, then it dies. All the fuel filters have been changed, diesel 911, the tank flushed. Still after 10 Min the truck won't run. The coolant is good. After checking the fresh filters, it seems the filter on the right side is not getting fuel. How can that be? Put the truck in the heated garage, no problem. Leave it outside and after 10 min it shuts down.
Appreciate your help

in garage no problem, but outside problem... sounds like a fuel line freezing.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Fuel isnt gelling is it?

No, not freezing up. I think the problems lies in the fuel lines. As the truck is left at idle it sucks just enough air to loose prime. I think a bad seal or "O" ring may be to blame. Compounding the problem is 20 below zero at night.

Pull the fuel return line and add an extension hose to submerge in a bucket of clean fuel. If it's sucking air, you'll see the bubbles in the bucket.
But I don't really think that's the problem, I don't know how that would be temperature related. I would try that first though, if it's not it, at least you eliminated it and can move on.
