If you'll read my post I said leased to a carrier. Most carriers pay .87 cpm to .95 cpm plus fuel surcharge pulling dry van. I didn't say it's impossible but it's not as common as you say. Yeah having your own authority is better as a rule. I consistently average 1.25 + myself after expenses but I'm not leased to an average carrier either. You mentioned Landstar for example their board is full of cheap freight, 1 van load I remember in particular ended up paying the truck .67 cpm. You have to hustle your own freight to make good money not rely on a dispatcher to look out for you. Again most carriers 0/0s lease to pay chicken feed but you can sit back and let them run your business for you too. The right way like you and your friends and myself do is where the money is you have to work a little and run your own business

I have worked for Koch for a year and I am very happy, drivers on here complaining probably caused most of their own problems,do a good job and you are treated fairly, if you halfass then you get what you deserve.

If you have any smarts, get as far away from kock as you can. they will tell you what you want to hear, promise everything you want, feed you all the BS you can handle. Once your in the door, well, grab your ankles and hold on. as far as the owan board, YA RIGHT good luck with that.

Oh, Don't trust your fleet manager to keep their word, don't count on any support if you have any problems or think they will back you up. They don't care about you, just how far they can push you.

For God sake man, take some time and read the posts regarding KOCH, if you still can't figure it out, then maybe you deserve it.

To anyone with any thoughts of or about Koch Trucking in Minneapolis, Please read all the posts here 1st, then go to Koch's facebook page, then go to RIP OFF REPORTS and I think you will have any and all your questions answered....This is what happened to me,,,The recruiters will tell you what you want to hear & promise you everything because they can simply because once your hired you get assigned a so called DRIVER MANAGER who can't manage anything, it comes from a PLANNER so the recruiter is out of the picture, they got you in the door, that was their job.
I can speek freely now that I got let go on one sided BS. I started back in 2010, I was assigned an 09 Volvo, good truck except for the fact that the shop mechanics touched it and from then on problem after problem. Right from the start I had numerous dashboard warning lights, fault messages, fault codes for the braking system, traction control system, electrical system. After 2 years and numerous shop visits for theses issues and about 6 PM Services the problems still existed, the excuse was, "WE CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG BECAUSE WE CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM" so all they would do is clear the codes which lasted until I started driving and then they were all back... The truck had an APU unit for bunk power/heat/ac, over the 2 years I was in the truck I replaced over $1,000 of personal property (fridgs, TV's, DVD players, coffee makers, razors, cell phones, bluetooths, Ipod's) because there was electrical issues with the APU power output which was overloading/burning out my stuff. The bunk heater unit would continously burn out/short out the THERMO LINK FUSES and I would have no heat (spent many many a night having to sleep or trying to sleep in the lounge at a truck stop) if you idled the truck for heat your would get exhaust fumes coming in after a while, you would lose your fuel savings bonus and get talked to about excessive idle time. Again, the shop "CERTIFIED" mechanics could never find anything wrong, when allowed to go somewhere to get it fixed, the repair shop identified the problem but because of warranty (or voided warranty) issues they weren't authorized to fix it, they were told to do nothing more then band-aid patch it which might last a day or two or a week.
THEN a "MIRICLE" happened, the truck was in the shop for service (again), I was b*tching about the APU and the issues. The head of maintence Todd W. came over and asked me to please demonstrate/show him what I was complaining about because once again, they couldn't find anything wrong. I got up in the truck, Todd and the mechanic were standing right there, I tried to start the APU (took several times to get it running), once it started I plugged an item into the outlet and "POP" the breakers tripped, they reset them and we did it 2-3 more times with different items, "POP" they tripped. Then, I almost had a heart attack and fell out of the truck. Todd looked up at me and said "LARRY, I'm sorry, NOW I BELIEVE YOU, there is a problem" (as if for the past 2 years I was lieing). The first thing I asked was, Now that you believe me and acknowledge there is a problem, will I or can I get some reimbursement or something for the $1,000 of personal property I replaced because of the electrical issues with the APU ? I should have seen this coming, "Sorry, KOCH holds no responsibility for the drivers personal property". Well, lost another day in the shop while they tried to repair it, (oh, you don't even get paid while in the shop or broke down, it's a "CASE by CASE"). Guess what..DIDN'T work, as soon as I got back on the road I had more problems then when I went in. Then in late June of 2012, I was given a new 2013 Volvo...let's not even go there other then to say I lost loads, miles & money in shops getting repaired. to be continued

Now comes the best part, after almost 3 years of doing everything asked of me, no complaints from any customer, in fact customers would request me. A want to be rent-a-cop at a customer files a bs complaint against me (1st ever) and I'm routed back to Minneapolis, told to drop my load and report to the shop (suspossed to be heading home for my son's 9th birthday in 3 days). I get called in and told I'm being dismissed (as in any and every case, the driver is wrong...period) this is Thursday afternoon. anyway, they pull my truck into the shop so they can watch me..real trust there. Tell me to clean out the truck and exit property.
They gave no help at all, (they don't & won't help any driver), I ended up having to dig in the dumpster for boxes which were few because they cut them up when they throw them out so I boxed up what I had boxes for and the rest went in the dumpster, a easy $300+ worth of food and personal property, then I had to carry everything across the street to Sterling Metals parking lot (this was 7-7:30pm and temps in the low to mid 30's.) so I was off KOCH PROPERTY. KOCH could care less that I had no money, no place to go, no place to sleep, no clue how I was suspossed to get back to Illinois. This is how KOCH works when your let go.
I put it in the hands of the LORD, Thanks to a friend and a fellow Christians, they helped me find a place to stay for the night, a hot meal and helped me get back to Illinois on Sunday just in time to tell my son Happy Birthday and apologize there were no presents because daddy just lost his job after almost 3 years.
All I can say Speediemac91, is they blow smoke up your stack until you can't regen or there is an issue and then don't count on any support from your driver manager (hope you didn't get Tom E) of Jenny P cause they stick it to you faster then Speedy Gonzales......So GOOD LUCK and keep up your 2 year trucker fantasy
