Cant blame it all on all high powered stuff....Most steering wheel holders are face n eyes deep in fb and todays trucks are just set up so poorly from factory...Add the techs who "claim" this and that but or just as bad as factory set up is...
Dont believe me,go listen to the super bowl....Half the time is rogers beeps, jabberin on over tweek radios so darn muffled n garbled mouthed that ya cant understandem anyways..

Fair point, but for the last couple of months I have had to squelch out guys from Florida and Vegas almost non-stop during the daytime. I suppose it must have something to do with weather when it gets like this, but end up cutting out so much I just as well turn it off.

Yes I use rf gain first and then a bit of squelch. Still have to cut almost everything out here in the intermountain west.

Thanks for the responses. I’ve been doing some research. Seems a pair Wilson 2000’s is the route I’m going to take for the antennae. Haven’t decided on a radio yet.

If I may make a suggestion, don't go with the cobra 29 radio. They have problems due to poor quality control at the factory. If you want to stay with something similar to the 29, then buy a Uniden PC78LTX. Same features as the 29's, but much better quality than the cobra radios. Plus it's about $30 cheaper too.

    PC78LTX - Uniden CB Radio

Or for a more modern radio look, buy a Uniden Taylor, or Walker II. Very nice radios for around the price of a cobra 29. If you decide to go with a side band radio, then I would recommend the Uniden Mckinley.

MCKINLEY - President Deluxe AM/SSB CB Radio

TAYLOR - President 12-24 VDC CB Radio With 7 Color Options

WALKER II - President 40 Channel CB Radio with ASC, Scan, Roger, Weather and More

I only use one antennae if it my own dime. Two is simply for vanity IMO.

    Don’t … keep it simple.

Use one antenna and only one.

Unfortunately with these newer trucks today, keeping it simple doesn't apply in the cb world today.
