Get your CDL however you please. Don't worry about the transmission. Most new drivers don't last 90 days out here anyways. There will be plenty of time to learn how to shift gears. I trained on 10 speed about 5 years ago. Don't have a restriction on my license. Been in an automatic ever since.

They're having fun and it has nothing to do with you. Speaking of that, have you considered BYOB & CBD? I'm seeing good things on the internet about them.

Being serious now, you already know the answer to the question. Road test in a manual trans, that way you're good later no matter what.

You sure know a lot for someone that has never spent 5 seconds in a Tractor Trailer Rig. I would suggest you quit watching Youtube videos, stop reading supertrucker stories, humble yourself a bit, and realize you don't know squat about trucking. You will get some great advice, and not so great advice on this forum. With the attitude you have displayed and some of your assinine comments, you may not be cut out to take direction and learn this profession. It may look easy from the outside looking in...... Its not. Good luck

Wow! Not only did none of you answer my original question, most of you have proven to be sensitive keyboard warriors that don’t bring anything to the table besides negativity. You may not like my opinions and that’s fine but assuming I know nothing about trucking and criticizing me because I’m new to the forum is just silliness. I’m sure there is a wealth of info on this forum and some really amazing mentors, I just haven’t come across them yet.

Find a C1 school, I think they still train in manuals, maybe community college if you've got one in your area with a training program. A mega training academy is most likely going to saddle you with a restriction so if you don't want that don't do it.

Ultimately you're going to have to do the leg work by contacting schools in your area and asking them if you can train and road test in a manual.
