    FFE or Star?
Hi everyone. I am a newbie. Fresh out of school and still green behind the ears!

I have two offers one from Star transportation in TN and the other from FFE.

Of the two companies which one is the best to go with being new?

I like Star because they claim to get you home weekly but it seems FFE will give me more miles??

IF you had to make a choice as a new guy and know what you know now, what would you do?

    Any input would be great!

    Thanks!

Well if you want to be home more often go with Star, If your looking to make more money go with FFE. I haven't heard much good about FFE though. And I'm new to so don't listen to me:biggrin_25512:

    Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone here have any experience with either of these 2 companies?

    Be it good or bad?

Just trying to make a good solid decision that I can live with for a year at least.

    Thanks!

I have some experience with FFE as that is the company I am currently with, all I can tell you is that they do give miles (I like to stay out 3wks at a time) and they treat you well my start pay is .38 a mile.
I have been with RFS (horrible, no miles, no pay), Heartland which had a lot of down time and very slow trucks.
    Good luck with your search.

I did research on both and FFE is the one I am going with. I start this coming Monday. I have 2 years exp. and drove for 2 other companys. The starting pay is good and the school sounds great.

Fancypants, what you're saying is FEE had lots of miles for a driver? Does the health insurance cover allot without a huge deductible? Do you pay higher rates for more people than just yourself?

If you're smart you'll look at all the benefits. Hows the health insurance, dental, sick pay, holiday pay,and retirement options. There's many more but just don't look at a company because it gets you home more. You've got to protect yourself for later on in life. Now is the time for you to invest in yourself. Does the company have programs that they will kick in a percentage for a retirement plan. My last company had 3 programs. A savings plan where you could put in 4% of your wages and the company would put in 6%. This plan you could borrow from yourself and pay back yourself. Then they had a CAP plan where you could put in 2% to get the company to put their 4% in. And when all that was done the company had just a company run retirement plan. I look back and wished I would have put more of my wages in but I still got a good retirement at a very early age.
