After Roehl telling me they can't hire me because I have been out of school for 60 days I have decided to get on with Werner. I leave from Winona, MN on Tuesday March 29th to head to Omaha NE. I'm not going to have any expectations going into this because of what everyone on here says about the company, but rather go into the experience with an open mind. I do not fear I will hate it as much as other people because I have had plenty of jobs where I was just a number and it truely doesn't bother me. I think a lot of people have a pre-conceived notion about what truck driving is suppose to be like. My notion? Its going to be hard. Plain and simple. I do not have expectations that I will be home evey month, nor do I think its going to be a cake walk. I am going into this with my head down and follow company policies to the best of my ability for the next 6-12 months until I get the experience necessary for the better of the companies. Ill update this thread with how I view the orientation and training process from start to finish for those new drivers that, like myself, are interested in hearing an unbiased opinion about what its like to go to Werner with a positive attitude.
Thanks for reading,
Kizzle

personnally, i like the anonymity of being a number. i drove for small personaly companies for too long and werner fits the bill well.
get in good with your safety guy and if dispatch tells you some crap thats gonna get you in trouble shoot safety a message. -
Well i am in training with Werner right now in florida and i can tell you that it is going really well i am going to be OTR all 48 when i get done but the training is all in my home state florida on a Homedepot account so you get alot of drops and miles experience plus i get 2 days off a week while training and you get put up in hotel where ever your trainer lives which for me is only 50 miles from home so my wife comes and gets me on the weekends...So far i like it and my trainer is really cool so hopefully it works out like that for you too.... Good Luck!

I'm glad its working out good for you. I'm so excited to get going finally! The only thing I'm worried about is making sure all my previous work history stuff clears. I have a pretty bad work history so I hope when I call and confirm everything Tuesday morning they don't tell me I won't be able to go. I'm just going to cross my fingers and enjoy my last weekend being unemployed. Take care.
