For the newbies........ http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-drivers/16652-packing-list-for-students.html
well just got done with day one of orientation. and figures, i cant remember my old drivers license number from when i did training with cr england in 2007 but they wanted the number so i spent every brake we had on the phone trying to get someone at cre to answer there phones and finally i got the old number and the lady i needed to give it to was already gone for the day. lol. well i will just give it to her tomorrow. other then that everything went well. i got my physical and wizz quiz done with no problems. i guess the real bor... i mean fun stuff starts tomorrow well. i am going to jump off here and start reading this driver manual. talk to you guys later EDIT: ohh and also they said in class that company drivers are no longer alowed to have GPS in the truck anymore? is that true, i would asume it is because the guy from safty that came in to do his speal is the one that said it. i think that would be stupid because i do use a gps but i make sure that its route matches up with the route i get from the company and if they dont match up i mainly fallow the company and i also always check them agisnt my atlas. speaking of atlas i need to get a new one at some point because mine is from 2007
There was talk of GPS at one time being banned by the CSA, but I think that went away. I have heard nothing official from Swift that we can't have one. I have one, and the newest version of the qualcom has one on it too, I'm told.
yea the safty guy was like company trucks arnt alowed to have a gps because how meny noobs top there trucks/trailers because there gps told them to take that route. then he went on to say that the new trucks have a gps built in and i was like umm, you just said gpses where banned in company trucks. i guess i realy should have asked him. lol.
did you have to take a road test at orientation. im going to swift harrisburg pa (jonestown) my recruiter said i didnt have to take a road test and that i would be with a trainer for six weeks
Hi all, I already have a prehire with swift, werner, Roehl, transam trucking, and stevens trucking. I had some questions about swift and I noticed that there were some current swift drivers on this forum. I was wondering if swift had a pet program because I would like to take my small dog with me sometimes. Werner is the only other company that I have a prehire from that does and I was wondering if swift does. Also, what does swift pay per mile after you get your own trucks. Werner starts out drivers at .26 cents per mile until 6 months when they raise it to .29/mile. I know Roehl and Transam trucking start you off .30 cents per mile but they do not have pet programs. Thanks for the help. I know I could just call my recruiter back up to ask, but I wanted to check here first.
I think we start at 26 cents, but pets are a no no now. The only company drivers that are allowed pets were grandfathered in a couple of years ago when Swift decided not to continue allowing pets.
