With many Trainers these days being New DRIVERS themselves teaching of GOOD habits are essential to a GREAT and SAFE Career in the Trucking Industry.

Here are some BAD HABITS that I see everyday, and EFFECT everyone around YOU!

    Talking on the CELL phone.

Keep OFF the Cell when you are in a Truck STOP, In a busy road situation like traffic, construction ect. Talk when you are PARKED.

    Running with NO CB.

Whatever your reason, ALWAYS have your CB on 19 and squelch turned UP to avoid unwanted long distance chatter. You will see after just a few days that you will know when the hwy is shut down in front of you, debris or road hazard is coming up Ect.

Parking on a Fuel Island (when NOT getting FUEL)

This is becoming the MOST troublesome BAD HABIT YET !
Really simple...Park and walk to entrance and take care of business.

Parking in a NON DESIGNATED SPOT.

Again real simple, If NOONE has parked there before YOU. There is a reason ! Unable for OTHERS to make turns or get OUT of a space. Just Remember to LOOK and THINK of OTHERS before doing so.

These are MY TOP DONT's for NEW DRIVERS. Others please feel FREE to ADD Yours.

Driving with headphones in. I see it alot and wonder how are you gonna hear the train, emergency vehical, ect with your ipod going. Use your regular radio.

Highbeam flashing. I cant stand being blinded at night. Your headlight switch is an inch or two more.

you gotta love the drivers that park at the fuel island and take a shower!! if your that lazy to only walk a few steps youve not done enough work to break a sweat and need a shower

Id prefer not getting bright lighted at night but at the same time its better than nothing what happened to the courtiuos drivers? i hollar clear and thank you over the cb or flash. dad was a driver and he passed that on to me

The fuel island can be debateable issue, if available, ill pull thru to the pull up line to grab a cup of coffee teal quick, no more than five minutes, so if a driver pull in the pump i outta there by tge time hes done fueling, but the guy who parks there to shower is an ***.

Good points man! Here are a few more newbie tips that will make you look like a professional driver:

Turn your lights off (just your headlights) when driving through truck stop lots and shippers and receivers. (common courtesy)

DO NOT FLASH YOUR HIGH BEAMS TO MOVE SOMEONE OVER!!! OKAY!!! JUST BLINK THEM ON AND OFF!!! Make sure to thank someone if they do it to you!

Hazard lights if traffic is stopped or scale is backed up!!!

Move over for emergency vehicles and cars on the side of the road. You never know when that little kid who just got done peeing is going to bolt out in the highway from in front of the car!

If the truck stop is full don't create your spot!!!

And yes keep your CB on it just may save your life one day!

Yes and never 10-4 good buddy! Unless you are running with rainbow stickers! (not that there is anything wrong with that)
