I like the guys that park at the fuel island and then never even think they might want to expedite whatever it was that was so important they had to block the fuel island. If circumstances make you park at a fuel island, make it the farhest one, not ALWAYS the very nearest one. If you have to be in the way, be there for the priefest possible time, stop lollygagging. When parking the priority needs to be don't block anyone, or as few as absolutley necessary for as little time as necessary, and make sure there is a way around you. Instead, one driver sees one moron parked in the way and he parks next to him, because there is always room for one more truck, no matter how little space is left.
Turn off your dang headlights when you are parked. Are automatic headlights so widespread almost nobody knows how to flip a dang switch? If you are moving, lights on. There is no prize for driving with your "I just looked at a Peterbilt calendar so I drive with my parking lights on half of the night" lights. If you don't make it a habit to drive with parking lights only you won't be the moron forgetting to turn on headlights at night. BTW, parking lights don't count as having your lights on if the conditions dictate lights need to be on, like driving in the rain. When you turn onto the street from private property, check your lights on/off as needed. When you get onto the interstate check your lights on/off as needed. -
Great Additions "Chompi". In addition to this one though... "Move over for emergency vehicles and cars on the side of the road. You never know when that little kid who just got done peeing is going to bolt out in the highway from in front of the car! "
You should always be LOOKING 1/2 mi or better when traveling, PLEASE DONT wait till the LAST MINUTE to come over...ONLY to have the truck or car slam on their brakes to let you in...OH YA..The car on the SHOULDER you just came over for?? NOONE around it ! Soooo.... Don't come over for everything on the shoulder unless activity on shoulder demands it. If it does plan for it in advance.
Hope that clears it up! Gunneychompi Thanks this. -
I agree 99.9%
However, If someone is underneath the car with legs sticking out on the white line. it's hard to tell sometimes if it's debris from the car or just the mind playing tricks. Sometimes it's not obvious if activity.
I was fooled once after passing the broken down F-150 on the shoulder
passed it 4 times that day, no activity, That 5th time someone was indeed under that truck with legs sticking out. Tire shredded prior to the truck still debris on the shoulder. I assumed it was blown towards the truck with all the traffic. Nope wasn't the shredded tire, was legs.
No 2nd vehicle either. I'm still cluelessLast edited: Aug 13, 2011
