I just started today as well at Fox Valley Technical College.

 

Went thru VU 2yrs. ago, excellent program had the best trainers for the time...We were introduced ro log books on the first day. Had to log our drive time to school,class room time,lunch time,off duty time etc,,,. We knew what a log book was some schools just mention them.... ADVICE: when you finish, hit while the iron is hot go get a job driving a truck.. I did'nt follow thru like I should have, went OTR for 2 whole weeks, time was just not right (regret it since) should have sucked it up and now I would have been on my way... Now I have a class A w/Haz. mat--dble/trples/and tanker endorsements. I might as well have a monopoly card in my pocket because I dont have any exp...!!! Still gonna do it, just gonna be tougher now we forget things!! Good luck and keep me posted!! P>S> Please ask instructor if they have refresher courses (how much time and $$$) thanks

Hi Generation Follower. I have a question about VUs driving school. As a resident of Northwest Indiana, I was looking into different schools in the state where I might train for my CDL. In my area we have two pretty bad (from the online reports that I've read) schools, both of which my local WorkOne center sends people to with a WIA grant. So my question is, do you know if its possible to get the WorkOne grants or funding even if you don't live in the county that the school is in.

You might not have an answer to m question, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I was planning on getting in touch with the school on Monday but when I saw your thread I thought I might see if you had any thoughts.
