Hi all, Interested in getting into truck, specifically Dry Bulk or Liquid Tanker and not sure if there are any companies that will hire new cdl holder or offer company sponsored cdl training. I called Prime for tanker but they don't hire out of Michigan for tanker, so any leads on companies that will hire out of Michigan would be greatly appreciated.

Good choice, Schneider Bulk and sometimes they sponsor through a private CDL school.
Here's some more that hire new CDL grads. The websites sometimes indicate "experience required" but in fact all these companies hire new CDL grads. Call or submit an online application.

Trimac Transportation - a new CDL grad in Michigan was hired recently for local/home every night and told to expect around $60K per year. This company also has OTR.

    Superior Carriers
    Tidewater Transit
    CTL Transportation
    Coastal Transport
    SVTN
    Bay & Bay

If you are a driver who is looking for their first CDL driving job, there are some companies like Schneider Bulk (SNBC) who will gladly hire you. But don't be surprised if the pay scale is a notch below other companies. The experience you can pick up in a years time, and the good training you will receive are often a worthy investment to your budding career. Some of that experience will be the kind where you find out the side of the business that will always piss you off, no matter who you eventually work for. Don't be fooled by the "up to". I can't tell you how many new drivers I have talked to who responded to a SNBC advertisement that said they are paying "up to" $81,000 a year for new drivers. I am at my two year point with SNBC and as a new driver, I told myself that I would be OK making $40,000 in my first year as I was also earning experience. Some guys honestly don't get above $35,000 that first year. There are varying reasons why, but I recommend communicating to your DBL that your "here to make money." There has been a nice bump up in cents-per-mile here, but that hasn't made its way to me yet. Still, I exceeded $50,000 in year one and a little less in year two. These are not typical results, but an ability to communicate and an ability to show you are dependable, will go a long way toward that.
