Seems as though I have a dead spot in starter, some times I have to hit ignition switch twice to get her to turn over. Sometimes I just hear a click, usually kicks in after second hit of ignition switch. Is this a pain in the ### install? whats a good starter to get?

Could be the starter mag switch on the firewall.
-
Never heard of it. Tell me what to look for

On the engine side of the firewall on the drivers side top is the starter mag switch, Mine has a rubber or plastic shield over it. I'm not certain how to test them but I've been told they should be replaced every time the starter is replaced.
Although I'm not a fan of replacing parts as a troubleshooting measure, the mag switch is a lot easier and less expensive than replacing the starter. Plus the new starter will have the same problem if the mag switch is on it's way out.
I'd post a pic but ever since photobucket screwed the entire forum world over I haven't found a new photo hosting site. -
Hey thanks for the explanation my friend. That info should be enough to steer me in the right direction. I’ll go check it out when the sun comes up

My 379 is a 97. My friend has an 05 and I noticed today he doesn't have the mag switch where mine is so since yours is an 03 it might not be where I said. Either way, I'd replace that first before a starter.

Yeah thanks buddy. I scanned my whole firewall and checked the battery box. Couldn’t find a mag switch anywhere. Has to be somewhere though
