What do you guys / gals keep in your truck as "essential" items to never be without?
I have started a list with -
1. Spare bulbs for exterior lights
2. Torque wrench and most commonly used sockets for checking lug nuts. ( what size sockets? )
Please help a rookie be prepared !! lol
thanks for any help in adding to my list. (There must be a ton more)

Loose the torque wrench. I carry lights extra wire about 6' in 16 gage, electrical tape duck tape, rain gear. I keep three days of food ( mre's) an extra very warm sleeping bag, 1/4in rope 50ft a blue tarp 8x10 a small hatchet, a 3' crowbar, 4# hammer, sockets and wrenches in saw and metric, oil, water starter fluid, wd40 it can be used in place of starter fluid, varouis sizes of screws nuts and bolts. Extra 3/8x1" mudflap. Extra fuel filters airline antifreeze extra fan belt. Rock salt and kitty litter screw drivers and toque head drivers. Filter wrench or a 2' piece of seatbelt. I'm sure I have missed something's but as you go you'll learn what you need for your are. Oh yea and 100 dollars that I don't touch except for an emergency.

I did keep airline antifreeze, coolant/antifreeze, extra oil. I'm embarrassed I forgot to mention the WD40.
If you do break down in the winter, the warm sleeping bag stated above will be invaluable, I always had a -50* rated bag in the winter.tderrick and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
Duct tape and WD40 is a must. WD40 has about a million uses and you can use it to free frozen/stuck locks, clean electrical connections and on rusted bolts and nuts. Having some spare fuses and electrical wire is not a bad idea either. A roll of baling wire and some asst zip ties too. Extra coolant, oil, fuel filters and a filter wrench if needed. Basic electrical kit with wire cutter/strippers, crimp connectors and electrical tape. More important is enough food and water to last for a few days as well as some warm clothing and a good sleeping bag.
hal380, Skydivedavec, Snowshoes and 2 others Thank this. -
Add a good flashlight with extra batteries too.
