You don't have to stay in the motel they provide at their rate. You can stay anywhere you want; just tell your recruiter that you're arranging your own lodging (and then arrange it). The provided motel is a much better deal than you'll find elsewhere, but it may have downsides. I'm camping out in my car and it's working fine, but I have lots of experience with that, and whatever option you pick may vary in terms of cost and convenience.

Well I went and took my dot physical yesterday without a hitch. Today went and took the Va cdl permit test and passed, only missed 3 questions total out of all the test. Now the waiting game is on until the 28th! I think after some thought I am going to take the greyhound to Millington just to save the gas despite the horror stories of bus rides lol. How prepared do you feel after your training to take the cdl road test Alex? Its it a 3 week cram session or does it start coming together the longer you are there?

Huge difference between Millington and Lewiston!!!! -
For the classroom stuff...get together with 3 or 4 other class mates and form a study group...what one person catches another won't...team work always pays off! -
4 to a room ? What, in two king beds ? Can you say "cozy" ?

lol I know the millington area dosent exactly have the best reputation being close to Memphis. My gf is worried about the lot lizzards. I keep telling her that I have way too many options to even consider one. Maybe that was the wrong thing to say in hindsight lol it got me cut off for a while. Im looking forward to starting, hopefully the next 2 weeks fly by.

Fewe Thanks this. -
Yes, it certainly is a 3-week cram session - the pace is fast, the stakes are high, and the environment is very structured. But it all seems to be exactly as it needs to be. Almost all the students pass, and report a good experience overall, even if they had rough spots. Watching the students in classes a week or two behind me on the backing range, I've been amazed at how far I've come in such a short time - I was making all those exact same mistakes and not knowing why or how to fix it, just a week or two ago, and now it's really feeling like things are coming together. Just try to keep yourself in a place where you can learn, and you'll do fine.

Just a little update, I was moved to the Nov 21st class instead of the 28th. Thats good news because I hope to be assigned a mentor before the Christmas holidays. I just looked up the greyhound ride. 21 hrs. eeeeeek! Not looking forward to that at all.

Don't go train with Swift... It will be a big mistake... WARNING WARNING WARNING
There are better places to take the plung. I would seek out a small independant willing to train you. I have 35 yrs... now retired. Good Luck.
