doing some research on an app i am working on and i need some in put from you other over size haulers out their. lets say you driving close to a city with cerfew on over size and you did not realize you were not alowed to be in the city limits wouldnt it be nice to have an app that reminds you to pull over 50 miles befor you get to the city limits. the app would be GPS and time sensitive to help us remember what citys we are getting ready to travel threw! so gie me your input on this app and maybe some ideas on the way the app should work or not work!!!!!

I don't need an app for that. I keep all that information in my head. For people who don't, it's on the permit or accompanying provision sheet.

This would be a useful app. You would have to start by entering you dimensions. Different states have different running times based on dims. Also, you better have a #### good disclaimer. States change stuff all the time...make sure someone isn't going to come back to you looking for you to pay their ticket. You could add additional useful information. For example, IN requires that you run with you headlights on with OS...so as you approach the IN line the app could warn the driver to turn on their lights. IL requires strobes on the rear of the trailer, the app could remind the driver of this. I am sure you could have the app give the driver a warning 1 hour before they have to be off the road based on current sunset times in the state they are travelling, or where they will be when the sun sets. You could include possible parking spots that would fall between current location and their projected shut down time including truck stops, rest areas, etc. You would probably have to review the information every 3 months to look for changes.

Not saying, I wouldn't use it or it not being beneficial in same way. However, we tend to be very particular when is comes to our loads. I don't know that I would trust or rely on an app over my permits. I may use it as another tool in the box...

I do see the development and updating being a daunting task. You are talking about every city in the us, since they are local regulations they will change frequently. I could see that app updating at least weekly. That being said, I would probably download it, but would not rely on it. I do like the idea...

yes i see your point DEMo and cpape, hell we talkin at least 1 year of research and development and then their would be a team of people updating the app every week if not dayley so the app would have a lot of fazes.

I would be happy to sign on as a consultant as long as I get a cut when you make millions.

I am not a oversize hauler, or even a truck driver for that matter, but I have written a few applications for the android phone, but if you are trying to make money with it good luck! One thing I have learned about applications is nobody wants to pay for them, and the advertising revenue is too small, so small in fact that you would be lucky to get a pack of smokes for it. The biggest problem I see is you are addressing too small of a market, to make money you need an application that everybody wants. So, your application is targeting, USA truck drivers, that haul oversize loads, that have a smart phone, that are willing to pay money for it, that know the application exists. So if you are doing it for fun, great! If you think you can make money with it I think you will be disappointed in it. Games are where the money is, outside of that the only applications that make money are the ones that are written by big companies like Youtube, Pandora, Google... -Well good luck with it.

usa truckers yes ill bet word of mouth from truckers is better then advertising it on other apps, us truck drivers we have a brother hood and we love to chat about things that work, if one truck driver knows about by the end of the month 10,000 drivers know about

I think you missed the point....1. I believe hauling OD loads is a specialized area and doubt seriously that there are 10,000 drivers in the field ..... 2. How many drivers who have been in the field for years WITH A SMART PHONE will PAY for something they either have a. Written down or b. floatin around in their dome ....135 sales tops....35 will request their money back.... Good luck
