My 2 cents as a new driver. I trained on the dollar general account out of south boston va. The work is back breaking. The trailers are stacked from floor to ceiling . When you pull out a rolltainer boxes come falling to your head.
I finished my first week on the DG fresh account and while its SO much easier then the dry van account the backing is is something i personally do not think any new driver should be backing into these stores.
Dont get me wrong, there are some stores that are easy to get into but as an example yesterday i had 3 that had to be done blind side from the street (2 lane road) and most of the other stops were also blind side back but from there tiny parking lot .
I know a lot of experienced drivers may just say suck it up and keep backing but its pretty stuff for a new guy. Even an older new guy. For me just a week in i think i would rather be out for 2 weeks and concentrate on driving, then being out weekly and worrying about the person who thinks they can beat the truck backing in the parking lot.
Starting at Dollar General, what can I expect as a driver?
