We got word on Monday and we officially will start on October 28th! We put in our notice at our current company and our last day will be October 17th followed by our vacation and then we will be back in the truck. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here that has given insight and advice. We have a trailer that we are taking down to Rankin and will commute to Big Lake for the time being until we can find an open RV spot that is open there. Right now the RV parks are full but I am hoping something opens up soon so we don't have to drive from Rankin every day.

Good luck and hope you enjoy Nabors. (I was working at the Big Lake yard last week)
I've been at the Big Spring yard since April and today is my last day. I got an offer to haul crude so im moving on.
Nabors is a good company and I enjoyed my time with them.
Anyway, wish ya'll the best -
Thanks tde66! Eventually I think we want to move to crude, but with no tanker experience, we had to start with water. We have heard from a lot of people that they are a good company so I think we made the right decision to start our oilfield experience with them.

Hey Tracy how much TT experience is.Nabors looking for? And congrats!!!! -
I am not sure. We have 4 years OTR. However, I do know of a girl that started there a few months ago (from a FB page) and she had gotten her CDL but did not have any experience, so I think it is worth a shot applying for them if you are looking for something. I believe starting pay with no experience is $16/hr but I think after your 90 day probation period is up that it will go up. We will be in Big Lake because he needs drivers. Big Lake is in the middle of no where, so that is why they have a hard time finding drivers. There is nothing to do there. They do have housing, but he said it is full right now, so your best bet, if you wanted to try to get on at that yard, would be to bring an RV down. Nothing is available in Big Lake right now for RV spaces, but there are some open in Rankin which is only a 30 minute drive. We will be staying in Rankin and will keep checking for a space to open up in Big Lake and then move our RV there.

Also, just apply online at Nabor.com and then call the office in Big Lake and ask for Michelle. She will be able to tell you she received your online application and she is really a big help.

They will train you -
When you two get your trucks come see me on Best lane. I'm putting a line in at the SWD for you...... and you will understand what I said when you get your feet wet.
The commute from Rankin is nothing really, It's 80 miles one way for me.
Good luck!! -
congrats to you guys! Remember Texas has some nice shoulders on their roads so if you see a cruder gaining on you...MOVE OVER...haha Seriously though be sure to signal as far in advance as you can. These speeds out here can be dangerous and sudden stops can make for a bad day for all involved. It's hard to judge closure rate when you can sometimes see for miles and miles but the brake lights can't be seen till it's too late. There's a certain amount of etiquette you'll learn quickly if you care to. Some get it, some don't. We're all out here to make as much money as possible so we should help each other out when we can.
Good luck and stay safe! -
Thanks stungjoe! I get the courtesy thing. Completely. We did drive OTR for four years, three with Prime, so we are accustomed to moving over for other trucks! LOL
I am sure there are some things that are more oil field related etiquette, but we will catch on to that pretty quick and get with the program. I am just ready to get backn in a truck and get started!
